Description
Native to Central America or Mexico, the jalapeno is a pod-type cultivar of common pepper. The name Jalapeno was given to the pepper by the Spanish. Jalapeno literally “”from Xalapa,”” which is the capital of Veracruz. Jalapeno is a medium-sized Chile pepper of 2-4 inches. The colour may vary from green to red or yellow depending upon the stage or maturity. Popularly used in Mexican cuisine, they are known for their bright flavor that is more grassy than other pepper varieties, making jalapenos versatile enough to be used in spicy food of many cuisines and perfect for an all-purpose hot sauce.

Storage – Shelf Life
Whole jalapenos will last in the refrigerator for about one week. Place whole jalapenos in a paper bag and store them in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator until you’re ready to use them.
Uses- It can be used in salads, salsas, chutneys or guacamoles.
